In 1953 H. Wilhelm Schaumann acquired the Hülsenberg estate  to intensify and extend the by then close collaboration with scientific institutes.

Over the following decades the estate was turned into a renowned research and communication centre for animal nutrition, livestock production and livestock breeding on a site of approximately 450 hectares. All SCHAUMANN products underwent extensive testing at Hülsenberg before they were considered ready for the market.

The rapid structural change in agriculture and the changing demands on research and development work resulted in a restructuring. All scientific activities are now concentrated at ISF GmbH, which works in close collaboration with top universities and research establishments in Germany and abroad.

The Hülsenberg estate continues to be run as a large working farm, giving the companies in the SCHAUMANN Group a direct insight into the practical aspects of commercial farming.
